Your test answers and local storage
The test calculates results on your device. We do not upload your individual responses or keep an answer database. The localStorage entry 12axes-v1 saves only your current question, answer weights, completion status, and results, so you can continue after refreshing.
This data remains in the same browser profile until you replace it by confirming Start Over or Retake Test, or remove it through your browser’s site-data settings. Anyone using that browser profile may be able to view it. Private browsing, blocked storage, or clearing site data can remove saved progress.
Public result links are optional
Creating a share link encodes twelve result percentages in a public URL. It does not include individual answers, a name, or an account identifier. Opening that URL sends the encoded scores to our website host so it can render the results and social preview image. Anyone with the link can view, copy, or redistribute the scores, including social platforms that fetch link previews.
These URLs are self-contained snapshots, not private or encrypted records. They cannot be revoked through the site. Retaking the test or clearing browser data does not invalidate a shared link or delete copies made by others. Only create or distribute a link if you are comfortable making its scores public. Public result pages do not load Google Analytics.
Optional Google Analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits to the homepage and informational pages. Analytics can receive information such as page addresses, referring websites, approximate location, browser and device information, and cookie identifiers. We do not send your answer choices or result percentages to Analytics.
The Google tag loads only after you select Allow analytics. We disable Google signals and advertising personalization in the site’s tag configuration. Declining analytics does not prevent you from taking the test, reading guides, or viewing results.
Google Analytics may set first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_2LZXFSVZDW to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. The default lifetime of these cookies is up to two years and may be refreshed by later visits. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Website hosting and technical information
Vercel hosts the website. When you request a page or image, hosting and delivery services process technical information such as the requested URL, IP address, browser information, and request timing to deliver content, maintain reliability, and protect the service. A requested shared-result URL contains its scores. These technical requests are separate from the individual answers stored on your device.
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their handling of technical data is described in Vercel’s Privacy Policy and the Google policies linked above. We do not sell your test answers or use them for targeted advertising.
Your choices and requests
You can decline or withdraw optional analytics, reset your local test, and delete browser storage without creating an account. Privacy rights concerning information processed by service providers depend on your location and the information involved. We cannot retrieve individual answers from an answer database, because we do not maintain one.
For practical answers about saved progress and public sharing, see the FAQ. For the conditions of using the test, read the Terms of Use.
